Tape Syncs
Let’s get you some beautiful tape.
Note: I’m currently not available for tape syncs as I am working as a full time staff reporter.
I’ve been doing tape syncs and producing my own audio stories since 2016. So when you hire me to do a tape sync, you can rest assured that you’re going to end up with good, clean tape. I’ve been in your shoes as a producer so I know that you want to focus on having a great interview, not micromanaging logistics. That’s why I put in the extra effort to show up on time, be communicative, and make sure the recording runs smoothly. I’m also an experienced interviewer myself, so I can help put your source at ease before we turn on the recorder.
I usually record with an Audio-Technica Condenser Microphone (AT8035) and use a Tascam DR-40 recorder with a pistol grip and shock mount. I follow the Association for Independents in Radio (AIR) rate guide for tape syncs. That’s a base rate of $150 plus mileage for the first hour of a basic recording session plus $50 for each additional hour. I may charge higher rates for more complicated recording situations.
Listen below for a sample of my past recordings. First you’ll hear Hamror Gabriel in an interview I recorded for New England Public Radio. The second voice is Professor Elizabeth Bertone-Johnson, who I recorded for the Hormonal Podcast. You can also visit my audio page to hear some of the full radio stories that I’ve produced.
